The current healing fad on the streets here is the miracle skin cure that promises to heal skin diseases, cure acne and offer you soft skin.
The generic name Dr Fish has stuck to these street corner fish ponds. Plastic paddling pools are squeezed into a wooden wooden frames and filled with water and fish imported from Singapore. For a few dollars you are induced into paddling in the pond for 15 minutes and let the fish nibble your skin. It usually results in bemused-looking tourists, knee deep in the water being photographed by other tourists.
We saw a bit of this in Bangkok but not to the extent of it here, nor the sheer DIY nature of some of these operations. There must be cheaper places to find fish than Singapore…
Wikipedia tells me that this is not new. Fish cleaning therapy is now widely available.
